One, Two… Is This On?

So, I’ve neglected to post any updates in 2019. Why? Well, I’ve been busy. The thing is, there’s been nothing to discuss, or worth writing an entire blog post about, until now.

The year started off with an influx of copywriting gigs – which have been immensely fun, mostly because the companies have been so open and receptive to trying something new – and I’ve slammed away on the keyboard for all the sites I regularly write for (of course, the trolls only read the headlines and hurl abuse at me, but whatever). So, it’s all good there.

On the creative front, two things notable happened.

One, I’m writing a brand-new horror script with my homie Jarrod Saunders. We discussed an idea we both liked and now we’re putting our butts to chairs and fleshing out the story. We tend to bring out the best in each other, so there’s no doubt that this will turn into something fantastic.

Two, I started another novel towards the end of 2018. Well, actually, it was two stories, but I scrapped the one idea in favour of the other. I’m only three chapters in since all my other work has taken priority, but I’m happy with what’s on paper so far (until I read a Clive Barker story and cry about how pathetic I am in comparison to him). Also, I’m feeling the pressure here. You see, The Not-So-Grim Reaper did exceptionally well—better than I expected, really—and I know this new book needs to surpass it in every way. I’m highly competitive and refuse to accept mediocrity, hence the start-stop process on this new project. I know that the breakthrough is around the corner, so I’m giving myself time to relax and free my mind from the rubbish obstacles I create for myself.

On the personal side of things, I’m excited about 2019. There were a few tough things I went through last year, but I’m focusing on moving forward and being the best I can be in all aspects of my life. Sometimes, all we can do is be the best version of ourselves.

Anyway, so that’s the update. Until the next time, keep your hopes up high and your head down low.
