January Update

It’s nearly the end of January – man, time really does fly when you’re getting old. For me, it’s been a productive period as I went back to the day job on January 3 and continued with all the other writing work. To get you up to speed, I present you with an update on all the nonsense I’ve been up to. These updates always feel weird, though, as if I’m giving you a report back on my activities like you do to your manager. Nonetheless, I know some people actually like reading these posts, so I’ll carry on doing them as long as you carry on asking for them.

Last year was a big one as I got back into journalism. I’m still writing for Fortress of Solitude, but I’m also part of the teams at Screen Rant, We Got This Covered, and now Comic Book Resources.

While it might look like quite a lot to juggle, I must confess that I’m enjoying the thrill of it. Yes, I need to balance my time and efforts, but I’m glad to be doing something that I’ve missed since I went into the corporate world.

For those wondering if this means I’ll be exploring music journalism in 2018 as well and making an overdue comeback, never say never…

While I have plans to write another novel this year, I haven’t started it as of yet. There’s a good reason, though: I’m writing a web series.

As it stands, it’ll be a four-part comedy drama with five-minute episodes. It’s still in the scripting phase with three episodes written so far and the final one to be completed this week.

I can’t say much about it, except that it’ll be set in South Africa and tackle workplace dynamics. Once there’s more info about it going into production, I’ll let you know.

The Novel

For the past few months, I’ve been talking about my manuscript, The Not-So-Grim Reaper, so you’re probably asking where this damn thing is already. The answer, unfortunately, hasn’t changed much: it’s still out with the agents and publishers.

The publishing industry moves slowly. Sure, it’s frustrating, but I guess it’s a lesson in patience for me. No matter what happens (or doesn’t happen), this thing will see the light of day – I promise you that much.

And that’s all the updates for now. I have a few deadlines looming, so let me get cracking on those. Remember to keep an eye on my social media pages for regular updates.

See you on the flip side!
