‘The Novel’ and Other, Other Things

After a year and a bit of writing, I’ve finally completed my urban fantasy tale (the fabled novel) that I’ve been working on. It took this long mostly because I worked on other things in between and I wanted to do the story justice, rather than end it with a “meh”. I know this is the part where I’m supposed to say that it’s the most challenging thing I’ve ever done, blah, blah, but it was actually a whole lot of fun. I enjoyed writing it and it was far from a chore.

Now what?

That’s an excellent question. At the moment, the manuscript is in the inboxes of a few agents (and others will be contacted, too) and we’ll see where that leads us. It’s a long process that may result in good things, or really nothing at all, so I’m applying patience here. If there are any updates, I’ll be sure to let everyone know what’s happening.

Other things

As most of you know, I don’t just dabble in fiction; I’m also heavily involved in pop-culture writing. While I continue to contribute to Fortress of Solitude and We Got This Covered, I’m now writing for Screen Rant since the end of August as well. Between these three websites, I’m able to get my pop-culture fix and really nerd out about all my favourite stuff, so you can check out the sites in the links above to keep up with all my musings and all the other content produced by an army of terrific writers.

In terms of screenplays, I’ve teamed up with my film-making partner-in-crime, Jarrod Saunders, to whip up a really short screenplay (can we call it a flashplay?) for a competition. It’s a really quick story, but that’s what’s required, and hopefully it’ll come to fruition soon. We’ve also been working on a bunch of other ideas, yet this one is priority number one right now.

Other, other things

I’ve decided that I don’t want to end these posts with the regular “thanks for reading” formality, so I’ll be closing off in style by listing some killer stuff that you should be checking out. Consider it my “recommendations” if you will.

What I’m listening to: Marilyn Manson’s “KILL4ME”

What I’m reading: Ransom Riggs’ Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

What I’m playing: Pro Evolution Soccer 2018

What I’m watching: Rick and Morty
