“Love Will Kill You” Published in Shotgun! Strange Stories

Good news. My latest flash fiction piece, “Love Will Kill You”, is out now in Shotgun! Strange Stories Vol. 2 #1. It’s my first published thriller, which takes tonal inspiration from films such as Kiss the Girls, Nocturnal Animals and Gone Girl. Confused yet? That’s the point, people.

The story’s a little weird, a little unsettling, and meant to linger—so maybe don’t read it before you go to bed or head out with your significant other. At just under 700 words, it proved challenging to write since every word counted that much more. It’s a great writing exercise, though, as it forced me to remove all the clutter and let the story’s essence shine. As a result, I feel the big reveal at the end was far more powerful.

“Love Will Kill You” is a free read (hooray for January gifts), and you can read the magazine here. However, if you’re still a fan of print magazines (like I am), you can order a physical copy of the magazine here. Make sure you also check out DeadLights Magazine, which is run by the same group of people behind Shotgun! Strange Stories. I haven’t read it yet, but the first issue looks jam-packed with killer content.

Towards the end of 2016, I went on a bit of a submission spree, so hopefully I’ll be posting more news about acceptances soon. Also, what do you think of the new website’s look? Snazzy, eh? I’d had the previous theme for nearly three years and decided it was time for a fresher, cleaner site, and removed a lot of dead links as well. Please let me know if you notice any weird gremlins or anything amiss, because I did do tweak and change a lot.

As always, thanks for dropping by and reading. Until next time, toodles!
